Welcome to Sierra Senior Services, the new kid on the block, the one with both meals and wheels. Although the program is not new in the Tahoe Region it is new to Incline Village. On June 3 the program started delivering meals to local seniors and currently they are delivering 10-13 meals daily. Being able to begin providing the meals in the Incline/Crystal Bay area was due to receiving a Community Fund Grant from Parasol in June.
“Every individual deserves the opportunity to have their basic nutritional needs met,” said Sarah Deardorff, Executive Director, Sierra Senior Services. “The Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation grant allows our agency to meet this need for Incline Village and Crystal Bay communities.”
Sierra Senior Services offers meals to individuals with medical conditions as well as seniors age 60 and over. The program uses donations, grants and fundraising efforts to be sure that no individual in need will ever be denied a meal.
