Helping our Community

Thank you to everyone for making generous donations throughout the holiday season.  The real magic of this season is always because our community cares and shares with those in need. Here is an update on the giving programs that helped make the holidays special for so many others. Thank you.2013-Toys

• Adopt-a-Family Program — This year 17 families received generous donations of clothing and basic needs. This program was sponsored by Lake Tahoe School, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and Tahoe Family Solutions.

• Adopt-a Senior Program — Thank you to everyone that selected angels and ginger bread men to provide special items and holidays meals for 36 seniors in our community. This program was sponsored by the IVGID Rec. Center and Senior Programs.

• Christmas Cheer — Thank you to everyone that supported the Christmas Cheer toy Distribution and Christmas Dinner Distribution in South Lake Tahoe. This program was sponsored by Christmas Cheer.

• Evening of Giving — Thank you for helping provide warm clothing items to help so many in our area in need this year. This program sponsored by Tahoe Youth and Family Services provided to all requesting help.

• Holiday Hope Program — Thank you to all that helped provide gifts and basic needs to 52 families for the Holiday Hope Program in Kings Beach.  This program is sponsored by the North Tahoe Family Resource Center in Kings Beach. The Resource Center also was able to connect with 134 families with the Holiday Clothing and Food Drive Giveaway at the North Tahoe Event Center.

• Incline Community Toy Drive — The last minute response to this program was amazing.  Because so many cared, 278 children received toys. This program was sponsored by the Incline Community Business Association and Tahoe Family Solutions. 

• Incline High School JROTC Holiday Food Drive —The Highlander Battalion collected 401 pounds of non-perishable food items for Project MANA during the holiday food drive at Incline High School.

• Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes 2013 – Thank you to everyone that prepared cards of thanks, encouragement and holiday cheer to members of the military and their families. The Northern Nevada Red Cross in Incline Village was able to provide 1,500 cards from local schools, churches, organizations and residents.

• Pet Network’s Holiday Giving Programs —Pet Network received $2,000 in donations from Wishing Trees, Rescue Wreaths and gourmet coffee during the holidays to support our local pet shelter.

• Project MANA’s Let’s Talk Turkey — During the Let’s Talk Turkey program in Incline Village more than 650 received items to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving Meal. In addition to the traditional items needed including a frozen turkey Project MANA also supplied items to fix many healthy side dishes along with recipes.

 • Shop with the Sheriff Program — Through the donations to the Shop with the Sheriff Program 200 underprivileged and at risk children ages 7-13 had the opportunity to purchase items. This program is sponsored by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and Deputy Sheriff's Association.

• Toys for Tots Tahoe City/Truckee — This program served 418 Tahoe Children and 439 Truckee children under 18. It also provided 200 lotion/perfume gift baskets, board games and toys to Meera Beser's North Tahoe Holiday Winter Cothing and Necessities program in Kings Beach and 150 toys, games and books to the NorthTahoe Boys and Girls Club in Kings Beach.
