Live Violence Free is committed to promoting a violence free community through education and advocacy to address domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation awarded Live Violence Free a 2013 Community Fund Grant.
Kate Cowan, Grants Coordinator at Live Violence Free said the grant was used to focus more on professional development training for its staff.
“The majority of these expenditures went to leadership training for management, including a nonprofit leadership consultant and participation in Leadership Lake Tahoe,” Cowan said. “LLT is a development program with a mission to identify and develop current and future leaders through a comprehensive program designed to increase knowledge and awareness of the issues and challenges facing the community.”
Some of the grant also helped Live Violence Free to focus on a discussion of management philosophy and organizational development during its management retreat. This has since led to a new management plan and a revised organizational chart.
Cowan will be using the balance of the grant on additional staff development training and a staff retreat in April. The staff training will include theory of change and process mapping, advanced trauma informed care, case management and/or crisis intervention prevention training while the retreat will focus on professional development and team building.
